That is the sad reality of digital divide. Digital divide is as a result of factors such as socioeconomic status, education level, governance and policy making and inequality (Servon, 2002).

Many discuss “the public sphere” without the qualifier, as a more generalized form. Although it represented a new avenue for some people, it was restricted in terms of class and gender, given that only bourgeois men could participate (Fraser, 1992).

Internet has been the buzzword for the people around the world in the last decade. It is factual that everyone likes to do most of their activities in the most easiest and flexible way possible. Ease and Flexibility is what Internet has provided to the mankind irrespective of profession or leisure based activity. Today internet is widely used by the business world for conducting their daily chores and by individuals to interact, learn and relax. Almost everything can be done online even if it is not in its true physical sense.

Internet plays a role in the shaping of democracy and policymaking inside the world’s most powerful institutions preoccupied with promoting democracy, human rights, or an open society.  However, there can be a tendency of overestimating its use in this. My own host institution, the Open Society Institute is on this list and is not innocent of relying on similar assumptions.

The internet has a number of advantages over other forms of communication , including, its ability to facilitate neighbourhood based interaction ,  that the internet may strengthen local community ties more generally given the local nature of the research  future given the increasingly pervasive role of the internet in various facets of human lives .

In my opinion, internet is the good targeted subsidies on people life it is easy to effectively access for every social and daily needs.  It improves the social ties and is a supplemental and powerful tool in mobilizing and reinvigorating political activism with real effects beyond the world of the internet.

There is an argument that the internet neither builds nor destroys social capital. Internet groups are not the kinds of communities that could generate social trust. The reason is straightforward while the trust that holds societies together develops between peoples of differing background.

First of all, the internet should be understood at least in part as a new form of public space and public good (APA, 2011).  The internet does not appear to foster the kinds of relations among human beings that characterize community as ordinarily understood and also because the high level of individual choice characteristic of internet groups is likely to foster excessive fragmentation.
