Lastly, it accounted for a slowing of productivity in the 1970’s as it was proved not exactly to be the best way of achieving globalization (Hurrel & Woods 1999, pp. 49).

The Japanese had been devising ways such as Kaizen, ‘Just in Time’ and ‘Six Sigma’ which gave them a high degree of competitive edge and in order to maintain the same competing vigour and level of efficiency the same strategies were been adapted to by the US and European markets. This not only helped in achieving cost effective operations but also in improved worker performance which as a result wiped out Taylor’s theory of scientific management which now is over a hundred years old. On the other hand, companies started outsourcing much of their labour intensive activities to less developed countries and still continue to do so; therefore, this has not completely eradicated Taylorism but is considered obsolete. Furthermore, where labour gets more and more skilled the scientific approach slowly and gradually gets diminished.
