The Bretton Woods institutions were set-up in 1944 after the 2nd World War. The 2nd World War saw massive economic and infrastructural damage to Europe. To help Europe recover from this difficult situation, the Bretton Woods institutions were created. These institutions basically consisted of two major bodies the IMF and World Bank and had the strong arm of the American economy behind their creation Another reason fortheir creation was that it was also  recognized after the Great Depression of the late 20’s that if one major national economy was suffering it would hurt the global economy in general.

Essay: The building of Panama Canal

The Panama Canalis a reminder that it is very hard for man to conquer nature and it requires ingenuity and team effort to bend nature and be able to use it to help meet our needs. It is also a reminder of the fact that at times of difficulty the worst and the best of human nature can be seen. After de Lesseps gave up the project, French courts found him guilty of fraud and bribery in raising funds for the canal and he spent the rest of his years in prison.   Some people may feel that the French gave up the project, were unable to complete it and that it is an accomplishment for Americans alone. However, I feel that the French did much of the groundwork for us. Before starting the project we were aware of what challenges to expect and hence were able to meet them more successfully and were gradually able to complete the project.

Open market operations are one of the most powerful tools that the Fed possesses to control money supply in the main Market. The Fed buys government securities in the open market when it wants to add to the reserves of the banks. The buying of securities results in an increase of money supply in the market. The process works something like this, the Fed buys up the securities from the reserve bank, after this the bank has basically more funds which to lend to the market basically an increase in money supply. The interest rate is derived from the interactions in the money market which includes demand and supply of money.

Likewise, Fed was structured in a way that the people taking responsibility of the money supply would be kept independent from those governing the country, which is why it is deemed to be one of the most credible in the world.

Furthermore, talking about bio fuel, it can easily be argued that ethanol extracted from corn and sugarcane to serve as an alternate fuel source might not turn out to be as cost effective as it might seem, thereby, rendering the developing countries victims of food inflation.

They believe that it was revealed to the their prophet, Muhammad over a period of 23 years and that the revelations were brought to him by the angel Gabriel. For the Muslims the Koran is the ultimate word of Law, its words can never be questioned. Among them those who memorize the Koran, known as the ‘Hafiz’, are greatly respected. Although the verses of the Koran were recorded in writing immediately after they were revealed to the Prophet, it was formed into a book during the time of Abu Bakr the first Caliph after the Prophet Muhammad’s death.
