He does not allow anything to put him down and seems to have answers to everything that happens in life. He attributes his misfortune to the fact that evil is necessary in life and everything will eventually work for the best. He also gives endless philosophies about life even when his opinion is not needed.
Candide is the protagonist of the story. His name means innocent, just like he is. He co-exists peacefully with everyone, is bubbly and charming. He believes all that he is told and trusts easily. He is mistreated by others but he does not give up or retaliate in a violent way.
