The emergence of the whiteness studies was result of the civil rights act of 1964, which gave the black population of America the status of equal American citizenship. Moreover they were also allowed form here on to participate in all events and activities in the state as American citizens. Consequent to the civil rights act, the Voting Act was formed in 1965 by President Lyndon Johnson, whereby the African American population of the US was allowed to vote and participate in electoral procedures.
This increased the representation of the blacks in the congressional bodies in a dramatic effect. However the black revolution and civil rights were not the only contributors of the whiteness studies. The minority movements of the Native Americans, The South Asians, as well as the Jews and Hispanic people that resided in America in the 19th and 20th century made way for the whiteness studies as well. Although they had not suffered to the extreme like the African Americans,. They still had to undergo minority based racism in communities. The whiteness studies as a result came about due to the diverse people that resided inAmerica and how they formed movements for independence and recognition of their rights in theUnited States of America as legal citizens of the state. As a result of the White ness studies the 1980s the immigration laws were provoked. Since the 1950s these laws have also changed to allow non nationals of the United Stets to undergo different forms of immigration and become legal citizens ofAmerica.
