Looking at both systems of universal and non-universal health care, one finds that there is a huge gap with the latter method in terms of overall quality compared to the former while measured against countries in the same level of development. My standpoint is on a universal health care system where government takes part in ensuring that its citizens are well insured in terms of health. This way it will protect its people against exploitation by the private entrepreneurs, whose main goal is making profit at all cost.
The global economic meltdown has left so many people jobless and poor. Consequently, they are losing their private properties to the credit institutions exposing them to higher health risks. If the system then burdens such people with the pressure of paying premiums for their health, the results would be catastrophic with so many premature deaths (Himmelstein, Thorne, Warren, & Woolhandler, 2009).
