One of the elements that Quran and this Sura deal with in particular is that of the spiritual issues that concern human beings. In some spiritual question’s the Sura is loud and clear. Essay: The Structure of Quran

The structure of the Quran is such that the basic division’s consist of verses, 114 surah’s and around 30 books. Verses are simply sentences while surah’s can be taken as essays dealing with various issues. In order to simplify the reading of the entire Quran it has been divided into 30 books which are referred to as ‘Sipara’s’ in Arabic. Surah 17 of the Quran is therefore just one part of the Quran, however it cannot be understood fully outside of the Quran. To understand this particular Surah (Sura – 17 The Children of Israel (Bani Israel) ) it is important to understand the history and structure of the Quran, how was it written, its structure and its importance historically and as a book of Faith.

Despite the earlier discussion in which I mentioned that the Koran has constantly criticized Jew and Christians the Koran states that Abraham, Jesus and Moses received revelations from the same God and these prophets are respected and revered as Messengers of God in the Koran. In fact the Koran says ‘To those who believe in God and his apostles and make no distinction between any of the apostles we shall soon give their(due rewards) for God is oft-forgiving, Merciful’ ( Sura Al-Nisaa Verse 152)

Essay: Koran and Religious Pluralism

The essay has analyzed how the Koran position’s Judaism and Christianity and whether this positioning allows any room for pluralism. While it is clear that the Koran identifies and in fact stresses on the close link between these religions and Islam and expects Muslims to show absolute respect for their prophets and their books, there are certain elements which indicate that the Koran leaves little room for pluralism.
