Both articles draw powerful arguments against abortion. An important similarity between both the articles is that each of them in its own way justify societal responsibility for preventing abortion even if they take different routes. Callahan by pointing out that society and the father should be responsible for the child if the mother is unable to manage and therefore should have say in what happens to the fetus. Marquis comes to the same path using the ‘Future Like Ours’. This argument also has a great deal of emotional appeal because it asks us that it is possible that we could have been the fetus which is being killed and never have gotten to live the life we did.

Sample Essay

The alcohol consumed here is of low quality and very destructive to health.  According to the author many tenement owners and citizens in general blame the poverty and filth of the masses on this poisonous brew that they consume. Many families have been destroyed because the little that the bread-earner managed to bring in was wasted on alcohol.

The conflict paradigm (Grewal and Kaplan 2006)) is much relevant to this movie at describing the socio economic (SES) inequality prevailing at that time in terms of gender and race while on the other hand, it was a fad to an extent that some women preferred leaving these jobs once the war was over. Domestic work does not contribute to the GDP of an economy, however, the 80’s witnessed an era of paid domestic employment, and however, illegal immigrants and payments made under the table still undermine women’s worth in terms of relevant field (Sotelo 1994).

Sample Essay

Both poets use powerful and vivid imagery to build their theme of ‘Carpe Diem’. One of the most powerful imagery used by each is that of time flying by. Andrew Marvell compares passing time to a ‘winged chariot’ and Robert Herrick builds upon the imagery of time to stress on his theme by explaining how ‘Old time is still a-flying’. Another piece of imagery which also stresses on the themes in the poems is that of the sun racing by.

Both these poems carry a sense of urgency and passing time. The stress is on the fact that if we do not live our life now, time will pass and we will never get those chances or that passion back, in other words ‘Carpe Diem’.  The poets develop this sense of passion and ‘Carpe Diem’ using urgent and persuasive tones, exaggerated language to enhance the impact of what they’re saying and using passionate emphatic images.

This surety and passion are what sustain and develop the theme of ‘Carpe Diem that runs through the poems. The poets want the listener to forget about their inhibitions and to live life so that there are no regrets.
